Itinerary Details

Day 01 Arrival in Manali and drive to Sarchu / Jispa

Arrive in Manali and start your drive towards Sarchu or Jispa via the iconic Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft). Enjoy the scenic drive through winding roads, lush green valleys, and snow-capped peaks. Stop at Keylong for lunch and continue your journey towards Sarchu or Jispa, a popular halt for travelers on the Manali-Leh highway.

Upon arrival, check into your camp or hotel and spend the evening acclimatizing to the high altitude. Sarchu and Jispa offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and river valleys.

Day 02 Sarchu / Jispa to Leh (251 km, 8-9 hours)

After breakfast, continue your drive towards Leh, passing through the famous Baralacha La Pass (16,040 ft) and the vast plains of Sarchu. Cross the second-highest motorable pass, Taglang La (17,480 ft), and take in the incredible views of the Himalayan landscape.

Along the way, you will pass through small villages and towns, offering glimpses of the local culture and way of life. Arrive in Leh by evening and check in to your hotel. Spend the evening acclimatizing to the high altitude.

Day 03 Excursion to Sham Valley in Leh

After breakfast, embark on an excursion to Sham Valley, also known as the "Apricot Valley" for its lush apricot orchards. Your first stop will be at the fascinating Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to defy gravity and roll uphill.

Visit the sacred Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and then proceed to the stunning Indus-Zanskar River Confluence, where two rivers meet in a mesmerizing blend of colors. Explore the ancient Alchi Monastery, known for its beautiful murals and intricate artwork.

Day 04 Leh to Nubra via Khardung La Pass (140 km / 5-6 hours)

After breakfast, drive to the beautiful Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), the highest motorable road in the world. The pass offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding snow-covered peaks and valleys.

Upon reaching Nubra Valley, visit the ancient Diskit Monastery and admire its massive 100-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. Later, explore the sand dunes of Hunder and enjoy a camel safari on the unique double-humped Bactrian camels.

Day 05 Excursion to Turtuk Village

Explore the narrow lanes of the village, visit the local mosque, and interact with the friendly locals. Turtuk was opened to tourists only a few years ago, making it a relatively unexplored gem of Ladakh.

Day 06 Nubra to Pangong via Shayok River or Wari La (140 km / 5 hours)

After breakfast, drive to the stunning Pangong Lake via the scenic Shayok River route or the rugged Wari La Pass. The drive offers breathtaking views of the mountains and river valleys, with Pangong Lake being the highlight of the journey.

Upon arrival at Pangong Lake, be captivated by the lake's crystal-clear waters that change color throughout the day, from deep blue to green. Pangong Lake, situated at an altitude of 14,270 feet, stretches across the India-China border.

Day 07 Pangong to Leh (222 km / 5.5 hours)

After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful morning by the lake before starting your drive back to Leh. Cross the scenic Chang La Pass (17,590 ft), one of the highest mountain passes in the world.

En route, visit the famous Druk White Lotus School (featured in the movie "3 Idiots") and the stunning Thiksey Monastery, known for its Tibetan architecture and magnificent Maitreya Buddha statue.

Day 08 Leh to Sarchu / Jispa (259 km / 7-8 hours)

After breakfast, begin your return journey from Leh to Sarchu or Jispa. En route, cross the Taglang La Pass and drive through the vast plains of Moore Plains, offering stunning vistas of the high-altitude desert landscape.

Stop for lunch along the way and continue your drive, passing through the beautiful Himalayan terrain. Upon arrival, check in to your camp or hotel for a well-deserved rest.
